Guidelines for posting and contributing to discussions on The Breach website and social media pages:
The Breach welcomes comments and wants to promote critical discussion on issues that affect us all. For those reasons, please follow the guidelines below to ensure respectful dialogue and interaction.
- Stay on topic. While different viewpoints are tolerated, comments should be related to the topic of discussion.
- Be respectful when debating politics and sharing your perspective.
- Keep it PG — no violence, gore, nudity, sexuality and profanity.
- Don’t make it personal — comment on content and ideas rather than the people posting them.
The following will not be tolerated:
- No personal attacks, insults, slurs, defamatory comments, hate speech, threats, harassment, or discriminatory comments made on the basis of religion, race, nationality or ethnicity, sexual orientation, gender identity or expression, age or disability.
- Do not bully, threaten or name-call.
- Don’t spam. Mass posting of identical or similar content to promote or solicit commercial services or products.
- Respect others’ privacy. Do not disclose or threaten to disclose personal details or identifying information about other people.
- False or misleading information intended to deceive others.
- No copyrighted material. Please do not publish full-length articles, quotes or content from other publications and websites.
- No trolling. We are not interested if you are here to merely disrupt or bait people without genuinely engaging in the discussion.
Consequences of not respecting these guidelines
We reserve the right to hide and/or delete any comments that violate our community guidelines. Repeat offenders on The Breach’s website and social media channels will be banned from contributing in the future.
By contributing to discussions on our website or social media pages, you are considered to be in agreement with the guidelines listed above. We encourage all contributors to be respectful and courteous.
