“Walk softly, but carry a big stick.” Canada has irrefutable FAILED on the latter. If we believe no one will bother Canada “because we are nice people” we are doomed. Russia, China, the US — everyone is covetous of an ice-free Arctic Passage. These nations are increasingly hostile to sovereign nations that have what they want. Canada has massive natural Hydrogen desposits, rare earths, oil fields, clean water. If we are FOOLISH ENOUGH to FAIL to protect these assets, they WILL be taken away. Wake up.
This is EXACTLY the kinda thinking that Carney and his gov’t are counting upon to continue Canada’s expensive (and our US integrative) military build-up.
So, my question to you is–just what Social Services are you willing to lose to make us strong enough to ward off these other covetous (and perhaps aggressive) nations?
It’s ONE or the OTHER.
