Find someone experienced in global economics, smart and savvy like Mark Carney and passionate with vision who can connect with the everyday people like Jack Layton did and you will be on the right track.
I have voted NDP only since the mid 80’s and while I have never voted Liberal in my life I do fully support mark carney and what he has done to stand up to trump, distance us from USA control, establish us with new trade options and taken Canada from teenage phase into adulthood on the world stage.
Do more to protect us from the damage of silica mining in Manitoba, stop the damage being done to our pristine wilderness in the name of selling resources, do more to lift low income and below poverty citizens into a more stable society, improve access to medical resources in and out of hospitals without additional costs with focus on rehoming, addiction prevention and treatment, and immediate access to mental health services and keeping costs of basic living such as food, prescriptions as well as over the counter meds and required supplies including incontinence products for seniors and lower income persons, rent and utilities low. Enforce that public servants receive lower incomes. It’s too bad there isn’t an higher tax placed on incomes over $100,000.00/ yr. Average income for low and middle class is between 7,000.00-40,000.00 annually. Increase CPP/CPPD, social assistance and other income related programs so that low income persons don’t have to choose between basic living needs but can have access to all they need such as the proposed basic living income program that was supposed to ensure no one received less than $2,000/mo. Reinstate public transportation as a tax credit including transit such as Winnipeg transit plus and its equivalent across not only Manitoba but the country. Changes need to be implemented quicker. Put enticements in place for companies to make use of students in all healthcare education programs for Nurses, HCA’s, Addiction programs, Community Service workers for hands on practice during their course program not just at the end of it for practicum hours to improve the hiring of graduates in these fields. Provide incentives for companies that hire recent graduates and pair them with experienced employees for probationary periods of 12-18 months to ensure they gain more varied exposure and are able to work in the community alone.
Persons on assistance who enrol in programs such as forklift training, warehouse work, general labour etc should also be employed immediately in government projects or in companies that can receive incentives to pair them with experienced employees for a probationary period.
Employers always ask for at least 2 yrs experience before hiring grads from government training programs. This means that the grads from these programs are not getting hired and any knowledge and confidence gained during the training is lost as they can’t gain employment. This wastes money and time if they can’t find employment.
We need to train smarter and get people into actual jobs with support until they have gained proficiency and confidence in their new skills.
The NDP needs to get back into being a government that is for the underdog not a puppet for the rich.
Great Articles! I wish I could join and support but as a low income senior I don’t have the money!
“We have a new leader. It’s Avi Lewis.” – Desmond Cole
I had hoped that The Breach would provide the much needed critical reporting and analysis the Canadian left so desperately needs. Cole makes it clear that it is a voice of the NDP. More specifically, the Avi Lewis led NDP.
